Lillian Wanician

After losing all other family members to the Civil War in Northern Uganda, Lillian escaped to the Acholi quarters with her Husband and three children, Robert, Evelyn and Shakira.  Attempting to start anew, Lillian’s husband originally found work in the Stone Quarry, but shortly thereafter, was discovered that he was HIV positive.  When the long hot days in the sun became unbearable, Lillian was forced to fill his position, carrying and breaking large stones to be used in building materials.  Four months later, Lillian came home to her husband lying dead on the floor.  Today, as an HIV Positive sole breadwinner for three, Lillian is eternally optimistic.

“My dream has always been to start my own business so that I can look after my children and they can have the opportunity to get an education.”
