Frequently Asked Questions

Who is SSPP?

Strategic Sustainable Partnership Program (SSPP) is a US- based public charity (501c3), working in cooperation with communities and partners in Africa to alleviate poverty through a scalable, microfinance model.  We help empower individuals to improve upon 1). the quality of their lives 2). the lives of their families and, 3). their communities.

What do you do?

We create partnerships that build communities.  We extend zero-interest loans and provide African artisans with access to US markets for a steady stream of income.  These partnerships also help us consolidate development efforts to create visible impact in areas such as water, sanitation, health and housing.

What is your Goal?

To help people understand the possibilities of a charitable microfinance model and its self-sustaining, cyclical nature. Simultaneously, it is to develop a network of empowered women and create partnerships that build communities.

Where are you based?

SSPP operates in the Acholi Quarters of Kampala, Uganda.  Specifically, we work in the Banda village, where more than 600 families have found refuge from the ongoing civil war in the Northern Region.  The conflict has forced thousands of children into the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) and has displaced nearly 1.8 people. Those fortunate enough to reach the Acholi Quarters must make a living by working at the stone quarry or through other menial jobs.  Here is where we have been able to help the most.

Who are your partners?

We partner with socially conscious individuals and groups at high schools, universities, churches, nonprofits, and other associations.  Our partners learn about SSPP’s unique microfinance model, and directly contribute to community development efforts.
